*** Special Notices***

There will be a question and answer session on Wednesday 12/17
from 7 to 9pm in the Math Tower Room P-131. You may ask any
questions about course material during this time.

Homework- Perhaps the best way to learn mathematics is to solve problems yourself. For this reason, this course will involve a great deal of homework, in two different formats:

  • Paper homework: Homework will be assigned every week and is due at lecture, usually on Wednesdays. Late homework will not be accepted.

  • Web homework: To complete these assignments you must first register at http://egrade.brownstone.net/live/classes/211section1/. Then follow further online instructions.

There will be an interactive assignment each week, and it will be graded online. In the process, you will be given immediate feedback as to the nature of your mistakes.

It is often a good idea to work together with others in the class. However, since homework earns credit, it is understood that everyone submitting particular problems has solved them individually.

Remember: trying to learn the material just before the exam rarely produces good results in any math course!

Grading - The final grade for this class will be computed from your exam scores, paper-homework, and web-homework, weighted as follows :

Paper Homework10%
Web Homework 15%
Midterm #120%
Midterm #220%
Final exam35%
