It is common that I have to explain the nature of my position. A post-doctoral research associate is a researcher who has obtained the degree of Philosophiae Doctor. The term implies that this researcher does not hold a Professorship, a condition he/she generally hopes is temporary. Post-docs in physics rarely teach while those in mathematics rarely do not. My position is a bit uncommon since I am a physicist and I teach.
