polymake was (and still is) a versatile tool for the algorithmic treatment of polytopes and polyhedra.

However, starting from release 2.0 polymake's new application TOPAZ (TOPology Application Zoo) additionally treats finite simplicial complexes. In particular, you can perform simplicial homology computations and much more. Read the TOPAZ tutorial to get an idea what this is about.

The system offers access to a wide variety of algorithms and packages within a common framework. polymake is flexible and continuously expanding. The software supplies C++ and perl interfaces which make it highly adaptable to individual needs.

The current version 2.0 was released July 7, 2003.
