Macaulay Release Notes
11 September 1994

[1 October 93] Section 1 describes recent improvements to Macaulay. Section 2 describes a new stand-alone version for the Macintosh; the Macintosh MPW tool (which requires the MPW shell) remains available. Section 3 describes an experimental command processor which can be accessed within Macaulay, the ``dot mode''. We do not guarantee that its definition in future versions will be backward-compatible with this version, but we welcome all comments from people who decide to use it anyways.

[Added 12 March 94] A bug has been fixed in the hilb_numer command. row_deg and col_deg have temporarily been added as abbreviations for row_degree and col_degree. The relevant paragraphs are marked like this paragraph. There may be a bug in the hilb command on DECstations when Macaulay is compiled using the native C compiler; the work-around for now is to use gcc instead.

[Added 11 Sep 94] Three new commands have been added: monoms, binoms, and monprimes. They are described below. The temporary commands row_deg and col_deg have been removed, and are no longer needed for scripts distributed with Macaulay.
