Optional script arguments

Scripts can now refer to arguments not provided by the caller; such references are replaced by a null string. This was not made a user option, so script writers could depend on this as a feature. This eases coding of optional arguments in scripts, such as providing an optional characteristic to <ring. See the new version of <ring:

% <ring 3 a-z r
% <ring 3 a-z r 2 ; sets characteristic to 2
