The commands below take a standard basis, perform some combinatorics on the initial monomial ideal or submodule, and produce numerical information. In each case, it does not matter which monomial order was used to produce the standard basis. What does matter is that the matrix be a standard basis. If no standard basis is present, the generators of the matrix itself are used, and a warning message is displayed. In this case the user must be sure that the matrix forms a standard basis.
