MAT 545: Complex Geometry

Spring 2007

Prerequesite: Some familiarity with Differential geometry (MAT530-531), with algebraic topology (MAT 539) and complex analysis (MAT 542).

Textbook: The official text book is Principles of Algebraic Geometry, by Griffiths and Harris.

Material covered: We will try to cover most of Chapter 0 and Chapter 1of the book of Griffiths and Harris, namely: Several complex variables, complex manifolds, Sheaf theory, Hodge theory, Kahler manifolds, Divisors and line bundles, Kodaira vanishing theorem, Lefschetz theorem on hyperplane sections, Kodaira embedding theorem.

Grading: Grades will be based upon problem sets given along the semester.

Assignment I: Due in class Tuesday, February 6th 2007.

Assignment II: Due in class Tuesday, February 20th 2007.

Assignment III: Due in class Tuesday, March 13th 2007.

Assignment IV: Due in class Thursday, March 29th 2007.

Assignment V: Due in class Tuesday, May first 2007.
