FINAL EXAM: December 18, 2-4:30pm in Duke Lecture Hall

The final will cover sections 1.1-3, 1.10, 2.2-3, 2.6, 3.1-5, 4.1-4.7, 5.5 in Blitzer's "Precalculus Essentials" and sections 2.1-5 in MAT 123 Calculus Supplement.

Important topics: Domains and ranges of functions; computing trigonometric functions; graphs of trigonometric functions; trigonometric equations; graphs of quadratic functions and polynomials; asymptotes of rational functions; graphs of exponential and logarithmic functions; properties of logarithms; exponential and logarithmic equations; modeling; exponential growth and decay; tangent lines and derivatives.

Closed books, closed notes. Calculators are not allowed.

For practice,
Do practice problems assigned for midterms I and II (see below)
Do end-of-chapter review exercises 85 and 86 for Chapter 3 (page 439) and test problems 26, 27, 28 for Chapter 3 (p. 443)
Do these problems in Calculus Supplement Review (p. 103 in the Supplement): 1, 3, 6, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 25, 28
Solutions are posted now. Probably with minor mistakes.
Also, go over all homework problems assigned, both black and blue
Here is a sample exam from last spring. Keep in mind that ours may emphasize other topics and will not be multiple-choice.

Extra office hours: Monday 12/17, 3-5pm

MIDTERM II: November 15, in-class
The midterm will cover section 1.10, 2.2-3, 2.6, 3.1-4

Important topics: graphs of quadratic functions and polynomials; asymptotes of rational functions; graphs of exponential and logarithmic functions; properties of logarithms; exponential and logarithmic equations; modeling
