Research

Areas of interest: representation theory, mathematical physics, noncommutative algebra.

Specific interests: vertex and conformal algebras, conformal field theory, representations of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, combinatorial algebra.

If you don't know what conformal algebras are, a good place to start is my (mostly survey) 2003 paper (dvi, pdf, ps).

Some of my papers are available in the Arxiv.

Teaching

  Current courses (spring'10):

Some old courses: MAT 336, History of Mathematics and MAT 303, Differential Equations and MAT 312/AMS 351, Applied Algebra at Stony Brook,
Math 1426, Math 3330, Math 4322 at UTA, 18.02 at MIT, 18.100A at MIT, Math 112 at Yale, Math 115 at Yale.

A textbook I translated: E.B. Vinberg, A Course in Algebra (see reviews at Mathscinet and Zentrablatt).
