Spring 2007. MAT 351.01: Differential Equations: Dynamics and Chaos

       Monday and Wednesday 3:50-5:10 PM Harriman Hall 115

       Textbook: An Introduction to Chaotic Dynamical Systems, Robert L. Devaney, 2nd ed.

       Office Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:20-6:30.

       (Please make an appointment either in the class or by sending an email.)

       There will be two exams, a Midterm and a Final. The course grade will be determined by:

       30% Final Exam+30% Midterm+40% Homework and Class Activities.

      Final Exam will be given on Monday May 14, 5:00 -7:30 PM at  Harriman Hall 115.

      The scores and statistics for the Final exam are posted on the Blackboard.

      Midterm Exam will be given on Wednesday March 21. It will cover up to the end of

      section 1.10. There will be no Make-up exam for the Midterm.

Winter 2007. MAT 123.60 Introduction to Calculus

       Tuesday-Friday 1:30-4:55 PM at room 234, Manhattan Campus

       Textbook: PRE-CALCULUS Essentials, by Robert Blitzer 2nd ed.

       The Final Exam will be given on the last day of classes (Friday January 19)

       In Class Quizzes will be given. The quizzes together can make up to 20%  of the total score.

       All your quiz scores and your final exam score will be posted on the Blackboard Website.

bulletFall 2006. MAT 127.02 Calculus C, section 81107

    Monday and Wednesday 5:20-6:40 PM at Physics P118

   Textbook: Single Variable Calculus (Stony Brook Edition) by James Stewart 3ed.

   Chapters 7 on differential equations and 8 on sequences and series will be covered.

   The course grade will be determined by:

   25 % Midterm I; 25 % Midterm II; 35 % Final; 15 % Homework, Quizzes, and Class Activities.

The first Midterm will be on Tuesday Oct 10 from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM and will cover 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, and a section on second order linear equations, which is not in the text.

The second Midterm will be on Wednesday Nov. 8 from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM and will cover 7.5, 7.6, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 and anything that needs further testing from the previous parts of the course.

The Final will be on Wednesday Dec. 20 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM and will cover the material in the first two parts of the course as well as the rest of chapter 8.

There will be NO MAKE-UP EXAMS.

Homework will be assigned in class and it will also be posted on Blackboard Website. Up to 8 quizzes will be given through the semester. There will be no make-up quizzes but up to two of the lowest grades will be dropped. All Exam, Quiz, and Homework Scores will be posted on the Blackboard Website.
