Class: MAT 125 (Calculus A)
Instructor: Brandon Williams
Class Time: Tuesday, Thursday 1:30 - 4:55pm in SB Manhattan 200
Office Hours: TBA

Textbook:
James Stewart, Calculus, Concepts and Contexts: Single Variable, third edition, Brooks-Cole Publishing.

Course Description:
This course continues what you learned from precalculus to work towards understanding limits, continuity and derivatives. We will very briefly review some precalculus, such as functions, exponentials and logarithms, and some trigonometry. We will then develop the basic notions of limits and derivatives, and try to understand what these mean geometrically. Next we will develop methods for finding derivatives of most functions. Finally, we will cover some applications of derivatives.

Policy:
Problems will be posted below each week, but are not due at any time. Instead, there will be weekly quizzes given every Tuesday. The quizzes will be roughly 15-20 minutes long, and will be based on the previous week's problems. There are 5 quizzes in total, but the lowest quiz grade will be dropped. The final exam will be given on the last day of class (July 8th). Each quiz will be worth 15 points and the final will be worth 40 points, for a possible 100 points total.

Final Information:
The final will be given in class on Thursday, July 8th at 1:30pm. You have 2 hours to complete the exam, which consists of 20 problems, each worth 2 points. Calculators are not allowed, but you can have one sheet of paper for formulas. A list of topics on the final can be found here, and a sample final can be found here.
