- Instructions for sshvnc
For Linux and Mac OS X you need to download the archive ssvnc.tar to your Desktop.
- For Windows and Linux,
Unpack the archive by right clicking on the downloaded file and selecting "Extract Here" from the menu.
For Mac OS X,
Unpack the archive by double clicking the downloaded file.
- For Windows,
Double click the ssvnc folder on your desktop
Double click the Windows folder in the ssvnc window
For Mac OS X,
Double click the ssvnc folder on your desktop
Double click on the MacOSX folder in the ssvnc window
For Linux,
Open a terminal window
Enter the command "cd Desktop/ssvnc/Unix"
- For Windows,
Double click the file "sshvnc.bat" in the Windows window. You should see the following window on your desktop:

For Mac OS X,
double click the file "sshvnc.command" in the MacOSX window. You should see the following window on your desktop:

For Linux,
In the terminal window enter the command "./sshvnc". You should see the following window on your desktop:

- Enter the following information into the VNC Host:Display field of the SSH VNC Viewer window
Note: Replace USER in the lines below with your MathLab username.
For a 800x600 (small) windows: USER@mathlab.sunysb.edu:50
For a 1024x768 (normal) windows: USER@mathlab.sunysb.edu:51
For a 1280x1024 (large) windows: USER@mathlab.sunysb.edu:52
Then Press the "Connect" button.
- In the text window that appears answer yes to the question "Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?", if asked.
- Enter your MathLab password at the "password:" prompt.
- If you were successful then you should see an image similar to:

- Enter your Mathlab Username and Password in the same way as you would on the computers in the MathLab.
- When you are finsihed, logout from graphical session.
- When the SSH VNC Viewer window returns you can save the current setup by pressing the "Save" button. The next time you run sshvnc you can Load your saved configuration instead of typing the information again during step 4)
- Press the "Exit" button to finish.
