Course Description:
Proficiency Algebra is a non-credit course designed to give students the prerequisite knowledge in algebra needed to succeed in subsequent precalculus and calculus courses. This course covers linear equations and functions, solving linear equations, introduces polynomial functions, factoring non-linear expressions, solving non-linear equations by factoring, complex fractions, radicals, relation and function theory and ends with an introduction to exponential and logarithmic functions.
Note:Calculators will not be permitted in class or on the exams......
Textbook:
Intermediate Algebra, 2nd edition, by
Miller, O’Neill, Hyde, 2008. Please be
sure to purchase the correct book.
Homework will be assigned mainly from the textbook, so it is important
that you buy a copy.

Math Learning Center:

to get help with math. It is staffed
most days and some evenings—your lecturer may hold some of his or her office
