Exams

There will be two midterm exams and the final exam. The time of these exams is as follows:
Midterm 1: 8:45pm-10p:15m, 10/1
Midterm 2: 8:30pm-10:15pm, 11/2
Final exam: 11:15am-1:45pm, 12/9


Midterm 1

  • Date and place: Th, 10/1, 8:45-10:15pm. Lectures 01 (MWF) and Lecture 04 (TuTh 5:30) will be in Frey 102. Lecture 02 (MW 5:30) will be in Frey 104.
  • Material covered: everything we have studied so far: 8.1-8.6 in the textbook.
  • Policies: no books, notes, or calculators. You must bring your ID with you. When writing solutions, you must show your reasoning, not just the answer. Answers without justification will get only partial credit. Your solutions should be written so that the grader is able to follow your reasoning and computations.
  • Practice problems: available here, with solutions. For more practice problems and exams from previous years, please check webpage of MAT 127 from last year. (Note that in some of the previous years, the course began with Chapter 7; we are beginning with Chapter 8).

Midterm 2

  • Date and place: Mon, 11/2, 8:45-10:15pm. Same rooms as Midterm 1: Lectures 01 (MWF) and Lecture 04 (TuTh 5:30) will be in Frey 102. Lecture 02 (MW 5:30) will be in Frey 104.
  • Material covered: everything we have studied since the first midterm, up to 7.3 in the textbook.
  • Policies: no books, notes, or calculators. You must bring your ID with you. When writing solutions, you must show your reasoning, not just the answer. Answers without justification will get only partial credit. Your solutions should be written so that the grader is able to follow your reasoning and computations.
  • Practice problems: available here, with solutions (corrected on 11/2). For more practice problems and exams from previous years, please check webpage of MAT 127 from last year.
  • Actual exam with solutions.

Final exam

  • Date and place: Wed, 12/9, 11:15am - 1:45 pm. Same rooms as Midterm 1: Lectures 01 (MWF) and Lecture 04 (TuTh 5:30) will be in Frey 102. Lecture 02 (MW 5:30) will be in Frey 104.
  • Material covered: everything we have studied, except the notes on second order differential equations.
  • Policies: no books or calculators. You are allowed to bring one sheet of paper (letter size, two-sided) with your notes. You must bring your ID with you. When writing solutions, you must show your reasoning, not just the answer. Answers without justification will get only partial credit. Your solutions should be written so that the grader is able to follow your reasoning and computations.
