Goal: The basic goal of MAT 518 is to introduce students some of the applications of elementary mathematics in the everyday life, in the other branches of science. Primarily for secondary school teachers of mathematics.

Text: Discrete Mathematics with Applications by Kenneth H. Rosen, 5th edition
Other useful though not required references are:
The Role of Mathematics in Science, Schiffer&Bowden, MAA New Mathematical Library, 1984
Applications of Calculus, Straffin Ed. MAA Notes 29, 1999 could be obtained from the library

Assignments: Classtime assingments will be given each week. To be done in groups

Examinations: There will be a midterm and a final examination

Grades: ABCF grading. Midterm+Final+Assignments+Attendance&Class Participation will determine the grades(20+50+20+10).
