pat covered the begining of the trip well, so here are my impressions on the part after he left: leaving throught the main entrance of the park on monday morning definately had it ups and downs. the pro (and simultaneously the con) was that i had to drive through 2 inches of snow. driving near ryan mountain there were several inches of accumulation and mine was only the second set of car tracks. by the time we reached hidden valley campground (to leave a note for rob that stu would be playing dominos in town!) the snow accumulation was slightly less than by ryan, but still blanketed the entire scenery. micah and i got out of the car to take some photos and after aboout ten minutes everyone had gotten out of the car to attempt an overhung boulder problem in the snow and get their picture taken on it! we(eric, colleen, micah, and i) went on an hour hike, leaving stu (equiped with only sandals) in the car to plan his desired climbs for the remaining week. hiking in the snow was fun and revived my spirits. when we got to the internet cafe to drop off stu we checked the weather report: the outlook for the indian cove option remained bleak, but the weather seemed to be calling for us at corona del mar beach. so we headed to the beach, picked up some great burritos and had an excellent day bouldering at pirates cove.
