WELCOME TO MAT 126
Calculus B

Spring 2004

Description: MAT 126 is a course devoted to integration. The contents can be divided into 3 parts, the first one aiming at the definition of integral and at the conceptual understanding of its meaning. The second part focuses on the actual evaluation of given integrals. Finally the last part consists of various applications of integrals to problems from geometry and physics. The prerequisite is a good working knowledge of the material seen in Calculus A. This includes familiarization with the notion of limit and ability to compute derivatives.

Text Book: Calculus: Concepts and Contexts, Single Variable, Second Edition by James Stewart. Please check the syllabus for the relevant sections.

Course Syllabus, Homework assignments and places of exams

Homework: Homework will be assigned every week in the recitations and collected in the recitations of the following week. Students enrolled in ELC 3 or 4 (for which there is no recitation) will have homework assigned in lecture instead. Alternatively all homework assignments can be obtained from the link above. Doing the homework is a fundamental part of the course work. Homework grades will be used for a   recitation score which will count for 20% of the overall score.

Grading Policy: The overall score will be computed by the formula   20% Rec. Score + 20 % Each Midterm + 40% Final

First Midterm Exam: 8:30pm to 10:00pm, February 23 (check the link above to find the place)

Second Midterm Exam: 8:30pm to 10:00pm, March 30 (check the link above to find the place)

Final Exam: 11:00am to 1:30pm, May 17 (check the link above to find the place)
