American Woodcock Scolopax minor. I thought the song I heard was coming from the bush but it must have been coming from overhead. It's faint and very hard to localize, but when I went back a week later I saw the bird in flight. Original posting April 18, corrected April 25 2001. Common Merganser Mergus merganser. Wrong bird. I now believe this was a Red-breasted Merganser Mergus serrator. Posted April 5 2002, deleted April 22.

Hermit Thrush A,B,C on the Music Page were relabeled to be chronological. Bird C's location was corrected to Crane Mountain. 9/24/03

"Mockingbird imitates mockingbird" has been deleted. I now realize this was a (physical) echo. :( 6/16/05
