Quiz

The last quiz will be on  May 2nd(Rec 1) and May 5th (Rec 2). Study 14.4 Green's Theorem for this quiz.
If you want to compensate a bad or missed quiz score, you may do any of the following special project:

1.  Page 1004 #1 : Part b) requires computer programming using Mathematica, MatLab, Maple or C.
2.  Page 1004 #3 
3.  Exercise #19 of appendix G   <--  follow the hyperlink
4.  Describe the Maxwell's equations of electromagnetics and solve problem 30 of the following article.

These problems are hard, so you will need some help from TA's. 
Group work is fine, but you will need to write your own report in your own words.
Solutions should be hand written, at least 3 pages (letter size paper) long. 
If any computer programs were written for the solution, you should print out the
source code and include it.

12.10: The Method of Lagrange Multipliers with Two Constraints (p926)
13.4: Moments of Inertia (p967-968)
13.5: Approximating Surface Area by Simpson's Rule (p975)

No calculators will be allowed.
Integration Tables related to trigonometric functions and inverses will be given.
Sin, cos tables will also be given. You will have to know some basic trigonometric identities,
such as tan x = sin x / cos x.
